Annual Caregiver Training

Refresh essential care skills with five sections, practical activities and a final assessment. Annual training is an additional five hours, separate from new-hire orientation.

Dementia care is included now, ahead of the January 1, 2027 requirement. Employers adapt the activities to the people served and verify actual training hours.

How the annual course works

Study each lesson, complete the guided activity and submit your reflection and quiz. Complete the final assessment. Your employer reviews the activities, population-specific instruction and actual hours before Excellent Caretakers issues a certificate. The study text alone does not establish five hours.

Progress is separated by employment year once administration records your hire date. Until then, you can use practice mode; practice work does not automatically become a certified employment-year record.

Reference resources and course guidance

Course version 2026.1 · Reviewed September 8, 2026. Use the relevant resource during each guided section. Clinical and equipment skills require assignment-specific training.

Dementia is included in this course now and is expressly required in annual training from January 1, 2027. Transportation instruction must match the services actually provided.
